Create a Restricted Project with 4 Logins

The following article explains how to create a restricted help project with multiple usernames, where you can define what content is displayed depending on who is logged in.

To create a project with 4 skins and 4 usernames, do the following:

1. Create four skins by selecting “Tools > Skins” and then click the ‘copy’ icon beside the default skin that you want to use. For example, you may end up with skins named ‘skin1’, ‘skin2’, ‘skin3’ and ‘skin4’

2. Create a security group for each skin by selecting “Tools > Security groups > Add”. The group names might be ‘group1’, ‘group2’, ‘group3’ and ‘group4’. Make sure that you select the appropriate skin. For example ‘group1’ should have ‘skin1’ selected.

3. Create a username for each group by selecting “Tools > Users > Add”. The usernames might be ‘user1’, ‘user2’, ‘user3’, ‘user4’. Make sure that you select the appropriate group. For example ‘user1’ should have ‘group1’ selected.

4. Create another security group named ‘public’. Select the skin that will be displayed to the public (eg: blue)

5. Create another user named ‘public’. Select the group ‘public’

6. At this point, you can login as ‘user1’, ‘user2’, ‘user3’ or ‘user4’ and a different skin is displayed each time. It won’t be evident if all skins are exactly the same though.

7. To define which pages & folders are visible to each skin, click the ‘page properties’ icon and then check the appropriate ‘hide/lock’ checkboxes. For example if you don’t want ‘user1’ to see the ‘FAQ’ section, select the ‘FAQ’ page and check ‘hide/lock’ beside ‘skin1’.
