How to Upload and Insert an .MP4 video (without .SWF file)

There’s an option to produce just an .MP4, which requires the Windows media player to run. If you want to use this option, you’ll need to do the following:

1. Allow .MP4 format for Media Manager. You’ll need to do the following:

-          Use a text editor such as notepad to edit the file “c:\program files\helpconsole 2012\_engine\default_project.aspx”

-          Look for the ‘MediaManager-SearchPatterns’ attribute (as shown below)

-          Add the “*.MP4” extension (as shown below)

-          Save the file.

Enable .MP4 format. If the video doesn’t run when the page is opened, this usually means that IIS on your web server is not configured to support the MIME type “video/mp4”. It can be added to the “web.config” configuration file. There is a line included in the web.config file that can be uncommented to make this work. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

-          Use a text editor such as NotePad to open “c:\program files\Helpconsole 2012\web.config”

-          Change the following line:

<!-- <staticContent><mimeMap fileExtension=".mp4" mimeType="video/mp4" /></staticContent> -->

<staticContent><mimeMap fileExtension=".mp4" mimeType="video/mp4" /></staticContent>

-          Save the file.
