WINDOWS/system32/project1/project.dat is not a valid path

Symptoms

You get this error message (C:\WINDOWS\system32\project1\project.datis not a valid path) when attempt to save after publishing a static help system.

Solution

There is a known bug that is specific to .NET Framework 2.0. A service pack may be released to fix this. Until the service pack is released, use one of the following workarounds:

  1. Refresh the browser window after publishing a static help system.
  2. Install .Net Framework 1.1 (this bug only occurs with .NET Framework 2.0).  It can be download from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

You would need to change a setting in the 'HelpConsole2007' virtual directory, so that is uses .NET 1.1.  See sreen shot below.
